On July 30-31, Seminis held a practical-scientific seminar. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the Ukrainian growers and Seminis dealers to the world trends in vegetable growing, new Seminis hybrids and peculiarities of their production.

The seminar was held at the Seminis Research and Demonstration Center in Melitopol (Zaporozhje Region). Taking part in the seminar were the Seminis manager for Eastern Europe and Asia Rick Naber (The Netherlands), leading Seminis specialists in the Ukraine, the company’s agronomists and numerous guests from the Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

This year, Seminis has modified the format of its meetings with the clients. Thus, the Field Days, which have annually been held over the past five years, have been dropped. It is our belief that the time of mere demonstration of vegetable crop collections – which is what the majority of the Ukrainian seed producing companies have been doing – has passed. What is really important today is the ability to predict trends in both seed and vegetable markets. However, market forecasting is impossible without regard for the current situation in the Ukraine and in the world as a whole.

Therefore, knowledge of the world trends in vegetable production and awareness of the fresh market and processor demands provides an important tool for improving the efficiency of both seed marketing and vegetable production. That is why much attention was given to these matters during the seminar. Pervading the seminar was the guiding principle of the Seminis customer policy: Seminis has always treated and will continue to treat its customers as its partners and, therefore, is always prepared to provide them with expertise and information on the cutting-edge technology employed in growing the company’s varieties and hybrids.

As part of the seminar, a round table has been organized at which the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and to share their experience. In our opinion, this practical-scientific seminar adequately reflected the core principle of the Seminis business philosophy: “OUR CUSTOMERS’ SUCCESS IS OUR SUCCESS TOO!”.
