An early-maturing long-long day onion hybrid with a high yield potential and uniform bulb shape. Matures approximately 100-103 days after sowing. When direct seeded in the open ground, produces bulbs within a single season. The first Petoseed red onion in the segment of long-long day red onions suitable for cultivation at latitudes of 50-60° north. The outstanding features of Fireball include high yields, bulb shape uniformity, exceptional, highly intense red color and superior quality of bulbs. This variety is somewhat more pungent than the onions with yellow-brown or yellow scales. The slightly flattened, globe-shaped bulbs show strong scale retention. An excellent choice for long storage.
